What we lock before release
- 01Material and manufacturer, so batch changes do not produce new dimensions.
- 02Part orientation, because it affects strength and tolerances more than any later setting.
- 03Inspection dimensions and their tolerances, sensibly limited to the ones that actually matter in assembly.
- 04Finishing: deburring, threaded inserts, marking or painting.
- 05Packaging and labelling, so parts pass goods receipt without queries.
Contract manufacturing: how the work runs
Contract manufacturing depends on the data handover. We review every STEP file before quoting for wall thickness, hole diameters and unsupported areas, and report back what could be made cheaper or more durable with small changes. That costs a few hours and usually saves a round of rework.
Then comes a first article. It is measured, documented and approved by you before the remaining quantity goes into production. On running orders we measure the first, middle and last part of a batch so a deviation is caught while it can still be corrected.
For call-off orders we keep material and parameter set ready and deliver to schedule. That suits spare parts and production aids in particular, because you avoid holding stock while keeping a short replenishment time.

Contract manufacturing FAQ
- From what quantity does 3D printing contract manufacturing pay off?
- There is no minimum quantity. It becomes economically interesting wherever tooling never pays back at 200 to 2,000 parts a year, or where variants change more often than tooling allows.
- Can we set up a blanket order with call offs?
- Yes. Material, parameters and inspection dimensions are fixed once, then you call off partial quantities. That keeps pricing stable and inventory low.
- How do you ensure repeatability?
- Released jobs run with locked material, nozzle diameter, layer height and orientation. Critical dimensions are sample checked and documented. Without that lock, every reorder is effectively a new part.
- Do you take over parts that used to be machined?
- Often yes, when load and tolerances allow it. It makes most sense on complex geometry with a lot of material removal. We also say clearly when machining remains the right process.
